Hubert Harold Thompson Jr., 71, of Tiger, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, at his residence.

He was a lifelong resident of Rabun County and was the son of Hubert Harold Thompson Sr. and Tessie Mae Parker Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Martha Faye Crunkleton Thompson; a brother, Gene Thompson; and a granddaughter, Lauryn Ramey.

He is survived by: a son, Carlos David Thompson (Natasha Welch Thompson) of Tiger; a daughter, Cathy Thompson of Tiger; a brother, Judson Thompson of Toccoa; a sister-in-law, Claudia Thompson of Clayton; and four grandchildren, Adelyn Thompson, Logan Thompson, Jackie Lee Buchanan and Isaac Ramey.

Harold retired from the National Resources Conservation Services and was a very loving and caring person who especially loved his wonderful grandbabies. He enjoyed fishing and playing the mandolin and guitar. He was a member of several gospel groups over the years. He served as a deacon for many years and was the chairman of deacons at Liberty Baptist Church, where he was a longtime member.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Scott Cates and Alton Dendy officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery.
