Saturday’s sudden snow storm affected more than drivers on local roads.

FAITH’s (Fight Abuse in the Home) 22nd Annual Sweetheart Ball was cancelled for the first time in its history.

Months of preparation went into planning the ball that expected 340 guests.

When the snow started Saturday morning Caroline Wallis, Executive Director, started making calls.  The scheduled band, Party at the Limit from Atlanta were scheduled to arrive in Clayton at 1:30 p.m. and caterers from Waterfall needed to deliver food and supplies to the Rabun County Civic Center in order to set up for kick off at 6 p.m.

After speaking to the Rabun County Sherriff’s Office and to Rabun County Road department, the decision was made to reschedule the event for February 29th.

“With months of preparation and planning, it was a difficult call to make. Ultimately, safety first is always the right decision.  Everyone is safe and our faithful staff and volunteers put in extra time and will put in extra time in the coming weeks to make the event happen and insure everyone has a wonderful time,”said Wallis.
