Rolling average of COVID-19 cases drops slightly, according to latest numbers

CLAYTON—Rabun County reported 27 new cases of COVID-19 in the past week, but the two-week rolling average dropped slightly, according to the Georgia Dept. of Public Health (GDPH).

The total cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19 stood at 227 as of Wednesday afternoon.

Three deaths and 34 hospitalizations have also been reported since March.

Many diagnosed with the disease have recovered, but the exact number is not available.

The two-week rolling average, which stood at 77 last week, dropped to 62 over the past several days.

Cumulative totals for surrounding counties as of Wednesday included:

Towns – 151

Habersham – 1,157

Stephens – 655

Macon (N.C.) – 641

Oconee (S.C.) – 844

Nearly a quarter-million Georgia residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since March.

A total of 4,351 deaths and 21,031 hospitalizations have been attributed to the disease.
