Clarice Elizabeth Johnson Nichols, age 64, of Clayton, Ga., passed away on May 20, 2020.

Clarice was born the daughter of the late Charles Edgar Johnson and Ollie Laverne Davis Johnson on May 14, 1956. Clarice loved her family and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being outdoors and especially liked to deer hunt and fish. She worked with her husband at the Nichols Campground. She always cared for people who were in need and was always a free hearted person. She loved to cook meals for large crowds and spending time fellowshipping with those who would come to eat. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of the Persimmon Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, one sister, Judy Johnson, preceded her in death. 

Her survivors include her husband, Jud Nichols, of Clayton; her son, Logan Nichols (Emily), of Canton, Ga.; her daughter, Christy Smith, of Clayton; her brothers, Daniel Johnson, of Clayton, Buster Johnson of Clayton, Denis Johnson, of Alabama; Wade Johnson, Doug Johnson; her sisters, Janet Rutledge, of Walnut Grove, Angie White, of Gainesville, Ga.; two grandchildren, Rowan Nichols, Hailey Smith and a number of nieces and nephews also survive her. 

Due to the healthcare crisis our nation is currently facing the family will hold a private graveside service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when all of her friends can come together to celebrate her life. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Clarice’s memory to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation 3395 NE Expressway, Suite 100 Atlanta, GA 30341 and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN  38105-1942.
