Dolly Newsome Murray passed away of kidney failure on Aug. 3, 2020 on her 92nd birthday.
She was born in Gibson, Ga. to Brady and Edith Newsome.
One of 11 children, she is survived by sisters Margaret Smith of Damascus, Va., Ruby (Harold) Harbin of Evans, Ga. and brother Lanson (Faye) Newsome of Jenkinsville, Ga.
She married Donald Murray of Lakemont, Ga. in 1947, and spent the rest of her life in Rabun County. Donald died in 1973.
Dolly is survived by their three children: Andy (Theresa) of Rome, Ga., and their sons Brent and Drew along with their families, Jay (Bess) green of Clayton, Ga., and their sons Jake and Nic, along with their families; and Dana (Teresa) Murray of Franklin, N.C. and their sons, Morgan and Evan and their families.
A private graveside service was held on Aug. 5, with the Rev. Clyde Hampton of Rome, Ga., senior pastor at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, officiating. Dolly was buried by her husband at the Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
