Geneva Miller Carpenter of Chatsworth, Ga. passed away January 10, 2020 at Fellowship Home, Milledgeville, Ga.  She was 95 years old.

Geneva was born July 8, 1924 in Winder, Ga. to the late Leatus (L. R.)  and Emily Miller.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her younger brother, Bonnie Miller, and beloved husband of 75 years, M. L. Carpenter.

She is survived by her sons, Kent Carpenter (Dorothy) of Milledgeville, and Marc Carpenter (Penny) of Crandall, Ga.; grandson, Kell Carpenter (Melena), and great-granddaughter Kelsey, all of Milledgeville.

Geneva graduated from Winder High School in 1941, and studied at Marsh Business College in Atlanta, Georgia.  Following a brief period of local employment in Winder, she supported the World War II effort as a Clerk Typist in the Fourth Service Command of the War Department in Atlanta.

She married M.L. on January 21, 1944.  After her husband prepared for a career as a pharmacist, they moved to Chatsworth in 1951 and established Carpenter’s Pharmacy (now Carlton’s Pharmacy).  While raising their two sons, Geneva also worked in support of the pharmacy and her husband’s other business ventures.   She was very active in their church, the First Baptist Church of Chatsworth, and by example gave witness for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Those that knew her will remember her as a good neighbor and friend.

Geneva’s gentle spirit and loving commitment were at the heart of her family, and allowed it to grow and thrive.

The family will receive visitors at Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth on Sunday, January 19, 2020 beginning at 1 p.m.  The funeral will follow at 3 p.m., then interment in Chatsworth Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Chatsworth.
