Julie Bleckley Speed, 80, of Homer, Ga. , died Thursday night July 25, 2019 at the home of her daughter, Kay Mayo in Dacula, Ga. She was the widow of John Lewis "Bud" Speed. 

Julie was born March 3, 1939 in Rabun County, Ga. to the late Howell Bleckley and Cora Speed Bleckley. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Webb Creek Baptist Church in Homer, Ga. 

Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Speed, and by her parents Howell and Cora Bleckley, also by five brothers, Marvin, Andrew, Pickett, and Jeff Bleckley and Alvin Crowe, a sister, Margie Bleckley Crowe, a daughter-in-law, Denise B. Speed and a great grandson Jackson Lammey. 
She is survived by two sons, Mike Speed and Larry Speed of Homer, GA and daughter-in-law Sharon Speed, two daughters, Brend Speed of Lawrenceville, GA and Kay Mayo (Eddie) of Dacula, GA. Three brothers, Bill Bleckley of Hendersonville, TN, Richard Bleckley of Clayton, GA, and Allen Bleckley of Franklin, NC and one sister, Virginia Hopkins of Tiger, GA. Eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren also survive. 

Funeral services were held Sunday July 28, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Dr. Raymond Page Lamar Gittens and Jason Speed officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
