Lenore Thornton Capps Carnes, 92, of Tiger, Ga. passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at her home. 

Born December 22, 1927 in Fulton County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Shirley Thornton Capps and Dorothy Prehn and the widower of Olan T. Carnes. Although born in Fulton County, she spent her life in Rabun County as a housewife and was a member of People's Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Olan T. Carnes and her parents, Shirley and Dorothy Capps, a daughter, Rita Carnes, a brother, Thornton Gilmer Capps, and two sisters, Sally Craig and Diana Adams. She is survived by two sons, Tim Carnes of Tiger, Ga. and Ben (Brandie) Carnes of Tiger, Ga., two daughters, Tina Adams of Toccoa, Ga., Betty and (Buddy) McKay of Tiger, Ga. and a sister, Joan Mayfield of Smyrna, Ga.  Two grandsons, Bud and Cathy McKay and Adam and Caroline Gibson and a great-granddaughter, Ellie Carnes also survive. 

Due to (COVID-19) state of Georgia rules and regulations,  a private graveside service for immediate family only was held Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Rocky Grove Cemetery with Rev. Buddy McKay and Rev. Kenny Kilby officiating. 

The family is at the home of her grandson on Carnes Road in Tiger, Ga.
