Tallulah Falls girls edge Lake Oconee Academy

Following the lengthy holiday break, the Tallulah Falls girls hoopsters put four in double figures last Saturday and edged Lake Oconee Academy, 65-60.
The Lady Indians (8-3) won their fifth straight as Katy Corbett scored a team-high 18 points. The junior filled the stat sheet with four three-pointers, seven rebounds, seven assists, three blocked shots and two steals.
Senior Lillie Free just missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. She also garnered three steals and sank two crucial free throws in the final few minutes.
Rounding out the quartet of double-figure scorers were freshmen Denika Lighbourne (12 points) and Veronaye Charlton (10). Lightbourne also registered six rebounds and three picks, and Charlton five assists and four steals.
With four points apiece were sophomore Macy Murdock (two rebounds, two deflections) and junior Abby Carlan (four rebounds).
Tallulah Falls led at the end of each quarter: 17-6, 31-27 and 52-40.
Lake Oconee, which got a game-high 27 from Destiny McClendon and 13 from Piper Bosart, fell to 10-4. McClendon also hit two three-pointers and collected 12 rebounds and three assists.
This week, the Lady Indians were scheduled to travel Tuesday to Gainesville to play Lakeview Academy, and will head to Monroe Friday to challenge George Walton Academy.
