Arrest made in Dillard infant death
A 24-year-old Mountain City has been charged with murder in the death of an infant found in Dillard.
Alma Leticia Lazaro-Leór was in the custody of the Rabun County Detention Center on Thursday morning, where she was being held without bond.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported Thursday morning that the Rabun County Sheriff's Office requested the organization's assistance at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in investigating the infant's death.
"During the course of the investigation, information obtained indicated that Alma Leticia Lazaro-Leor, 24, of Mountain City, Georgia, was responsible for the death of her infant child," stated GBI Office of Public Affairs Director Nelly Miles in an email.
Miles and Sheriff's Office Chief Investigator Capt. Jack Tanksley have declined further comment, saying only that the investigation is active.
The Clayton Tribune will continue to report on the case as details become available.
