When a group of Rabun County High School students got to take a trip to the Foxfire Museum property in Mountain City for a tour, they probably expected to gain a better understanding of how life was hundreds of years ago. Well, they got that experience and more, including muddy hands.

Two Community Thanksgiving Dinners set for this weekend

Community Thanksgiving Dinners are planned for Nov. 22 and Nov. 23 in Rabun County. A Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. or all dinners distributed. The food bank is located at 46 Plaza Way in Clayton.

The 2025 Miss Rabun County High School Pageant had one of the largest audience turnouts ever as the Princess Academy was held in the Fine Arts Building on campus prior to the crowning of this year’s overall winner Hayden Bass, who earlier this year also was honored as the RCHS Homecoming Queen.

A sense that America and specifically Rabun County is heading in the right direction was evident with the patriotism in the air at The Dillard House Resport on Nov. 6. An excess of 300 filled the dining area of the iconic restaurant for the 26th annual Veterans Dinner.

Sky Valley tax vote slated for Nov. 18

The final one of three public hearings is the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 18, for City of Sky Valley’s announced intent to increase the 2025 property taxes it plans to levy this year by 6.62 percent over the rollback millage rate. The millage rate would be 9.6090 for 2025, just like it was for 2024.
