RABUN GAP-- No injuries were reported at a structure fire at 155 Darnell Creek Rd. in Rabun Gap on Tuesday morning.  Rabun County 911 received a call for a house on fire with flames showing at approximately 11:27 a.m.

SATOLAH-- The Satolah Fire Station welcomed home former Chief Steve Wilson Tuesday after his months-long battle being hospitalized with COVID-19.  "You can't describe something like that," Wilson said about how he felt with the surprise homecoming welcome.

CLAYTON-- Former Dillard Police Chief Jeremy Welch--who currently works as a police officer for the Mountain City Police Department--pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving and an additional count of open container at arraignment on March 17.

Land deeded for future wastewater treatment plant

CLAYTON-- The Rabun County Board of Commissioners deeded 23-acres of land it recently acquired to the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) as the future site of a wastewater treatment plant, at Tuesday’s commission meeting.  Commissioner Scott Crane was not in attendance.

CLAYTON—Rabun County’s Moonrise Distillery is off to a roaring start in 2021, winning a basket full of awards while expanding both their product line and local facilities.

David Rogers has served as Associate Pastor of Youth and Ministry at Clayton Baptist Church for 35 years, and said that he's right where he's meant to be.  "For me, it's about calling," Rogers said. "To be a youth minister, that's a calling. And that's what I feel like my calling is.

Evans rescues woman from structure fire

LAKEMONT-- An elderly, non-ambulatory woman was rescued from a structure fire in Lakemont by a Hospice CNA on Monday.  Habersham resident Hayley Evans works for PruittHealth Hospice of Gainesville and has been a CNA for 10 years. She’s served the Rabun County area for about two-and-a-half years.
