Lawmakers prepare human trafficking legislation

State lawmakers plan to bring new legislation aimed at helping victims of human trafficking in Georgia recover from abuse and protect their identities, Gov. Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp announced Monday.

Water topics top Clayton council agenda

CLAYTON-- Clayton City Council members discussed construction on portions of their water system infrastructure at Tuesday’s meeting.

Over 700 receive COVID-19 vaccine

TIGER-- Over 700 people received the COVID-19 vaccine at a free vaccination clinic held at the Rabun County Recreation Department on Tuesday, according to Rabun County Nurse Manager Dulene Jones.  “We didn’t have any doses that we wasted,” Jones said.

Rabun students return to campus

TIGER-- Rabun County Schools returned to face-to-face instruction on Tuesday.  In December, officials announced a shift to virtual, distance-based learning for all instruction due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.

Forward Rabun board discusses community's future

CLAYTON-- Forward Rabun discussed economic development in Rabun County at their inaugural executive committee meeting on Tuesday.  Committee members discussed healthcare, education, tourism, marketing and economic development and site selection.

Tallulah Falls appoints Tilley new council member

TALLULAH FALLS-- Tallulah Falls town council members appointed Tommy Tilley as the new council member at last Thursday’s council meeting.  Tilley will serve the remainder of Deb Goatcher’s term, which ends in December 2021.  Goatcher resigned her position this past December.

Ingles now offering COVID-19 vaccinations

Ingles Markets are now offering COVID-19 vaccinations.  "Each Ingles store that has a pharmacy will distribute the vaccine," said Ronald Freeman, Chief Financial Officer. This includes the Rabun County store located at 176 US-441, Clayton.  Customers can go to the Ingles website, https://www.

Majority of EMS calls now relate to COVID-19 as virus surges through Rabun County

The coronavirus pandemic has affected everyone in one way or another.  With infections rising in record numbers every day, emergency medical personnel have been on the front lines helping others at a great risk to their own health because of increased chances of exposure.
