COVID-19 surges through Rabun County

CLAYTON—Rabun County hit a deadly stretch of COVID-19 fatalities to begin the new year, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health (GDPH). The disease killed one local resident per day during the period Jan. 5-11, state records indicate.

Compton elected to lead Rabun Democratic Party

The Rabun County Democrats County Committee recently voted unanimously to elect their new Executive Team for the 2021-2023 term.  Selected to lead the group is Lakemont resident, Miranda Compton. “Rabun County has had a Democratic Committee since 1833,” Compton said.

CFUMC youth make donation

The youth at Clayton First United Methodist Church recently took about 10 boxes of requested donations to Habersham Homeless Ministries shelter in Clarkesville. They also had financial contributions.

Pagano donates masks

Clayton continues to fine-tune food truck ordinance

CLAYTON-- Clayton city council members continued discussing fine-tuning the food truck ordinance that passed last year, at Tuesday's work session.  Mayor Jordan Green and Council Member Woody Blalock were absent from the meeting.

Response to COVID vaccine overwhelms system

Due to the huge response for the COVID-19 vaccine, District 2 Public Health Departments' phone lines, call center and website are overwhelmed, according to a statement from Dave Palmer, public information officer for District 2 Public Health, Monday.  "We ask that everyone be patient.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

CLAYTON--The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office completed a traffic stop in Clayton on December 29 that resulted in an arrest for trafficking methamphetamine.

Funds received for food and shelter

Ninth District Opportunity, Inc. has been awarded federal funds under The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. Rabun County has been chosen to receive $4,500.16 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
