Keep Rabun Beautiful urges 'Bring One For The Chipper'

Keep Rabun Beautiful is encouraging the recycling of Christmas trees by participating in “Bring One for the Chipper Day." The event is the largest tree recycling event in the nation, according to the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation website.

Rabun County deputy, jailer of the year recognized

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office recently announced Deputy Tony Parrish as Deputy of the Year and Corporal Steven Barnes as Jailer of the Year for 2020.  The awards are voted on by their peers anonymously, said Sheriff Chad Nichols. The two received their awards in December.

Vaccine arrives as Rabun rates keep climbing

CLAYTON—On Tuesday, Rabun County reported the second-highest rate of COVID-19 community spread in North Georgia, and one of the highest rates in the state. So far, 17 Rabun County residents have died from COVID-19, eight females and nine males, ranging in age from 37 to 90-plus years old.

Rabun one of top counties for early voting in runoff

CLAYTON--Early voting for the Jan. 5 general election runoff ends at 5 p.m. today. It’s also the last day to request an absentee by mail ballot.  The Rabun County Board of Elections Office has seen an influx of voters since early voting began on December 14.

CLAYTON--Rabun County Commissioner Stephen Arbitter finished out his 8 years of service to Rabun County at last Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting.  Commissioners presented Arbitter with an award honoring his commitment to the community and board over the years.

County receives good grade on financial audit

CLAYON--Rabun County received a “high grade” for the FY 2020 audit presented to the Rabun County Board of Commissioners last Tuesday.  Commissioner Scott Crane attended via video call due to being deployed overseas.  Rabun County’s Fiscal Year ended June 30, 2020.
