Fire destroys Cobb Lane home

The cause of a fire at 130 Cobb Ln. on Wednesday, Sept. 23 is undetermined, according to officials. A call was dispatched at 11:08 a.m. and Rabun County Fire Services Stations 1,2 and 8 responded, said Justin Upchurch, assistant chief of Rabun County Fire Services.

Absentee ballot requests surge due to COVID-19

CLAYTON— The Rabun County Board of Elections Office is gearing up for the Nov. 3 election amidst the coronavirus pandemic and has received an influx of absentee ballot requests as a result.

Jury trials can resume in Rabun County beginning in October

Harold Melton, Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, in his Sixth Order Extending Declaration of Statewide Judicial Emergency, provides that jury trials, which have been prohibited since March 14, 2020, will be permitted to resume in October 2020.

Food Bank volunteers help anchor Teaching Kitchen

CLAYTON-- The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia has seen many volunteers and employees come and go, but volunteers Joanne Baumgartmner, Gloria Stokes and Laura Hunter have been the rock at the teaching kitchen to help members in the community.
