Rabun Gap man killed in one-vehicle accident

CLAYTON— A Rabun Gap man died following an accident on Ga. 15 (Highway 441)  near Clayton on Monday.

Nonprofit mental health services now available

CLAYTON— A new nonprofit geared towards mental health services has come to Rabun County.  Georgia Mountain Psychological Associates (GMPA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides therapy services to the community.

Mountain Lakes plans improvements, expansion of local health care services

CLAYTON—Mountain Lakes Medical Center is under unified ownership and new corporate management for the first time in more than a decade. The 65,000 sq.-ft. critical care facility is now fully owned by Robert Lubin, an immigration attorney and investor from Herndon, Va.

CLAYTON— The North Georgia Mountains were a welcomed site for Father Pedro Poloche, who came to St. Helena Catholic Church about five years ago.

Va. man drowns at Lake Burton

LAKE BURTON— Officials confirmed Sunday a 57-year-old man died in a drowning accident at Lake Burton. The body of Keith Levitt Hill, of Virginia was recovered after emergency personnel were dispatched to 2812 Meeting House Mtn. Rd. following a call that came in at approximately 10:25 a.m.

GDNR urges rabies awareness, vaccinations

Although the occurrence of rabies among humans has declined noticeably over the years, the disease continues among wild animals. Encounters between wild animals and domestic pets, including some that involve people, sometimes occur in our area.
