7 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Rabun County

CLAYTON—Seven additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Rabun County in the past week, bringing the total number reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health (GDPH) to 23. It was the biggest one-week jump in reported confirmed cases in more than a month.

CLAYTON— The Class of 2020 has had a senior year like no other due to the current health crisis, so Rabun County community members came together and showed their support to the seniors in a parade down Main Street in Clayton on Tuesday.

Early voting for June 9 primary ends Friday

CLAYTON— Early voting for the June 9 presidential preference and general primary election ends on Friday.  The last day to request an absentee ballot is 5 p.m. Friday and it’s also the last day ballots will be mailed out, said Tammy Whitmire, elections supervisor, on Monday.

Parade for RCHS seniors rescheduled for Tuesday

The senior drive-thru parade to honor the Rabun County High School Class of 2020 scheduled for May 28 is postponed due to the rain, said Cissy Henry, Clayton city manager, Wednesday.  The parade is now scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 at 6 p.m.

Couple killed in crash near Clayton

CLAYTON--A multi-vehicle accident near Clayton on Saturday afternoon claimed the lives of a Scaly Mountain, N.C. couple.  The accident occurred near the intersection of US 441 and Old Highway 441. David Head, 46, and Dawn Head of Scaly Mountain, N.C.
