Commissioners approve preliminary county budget

CLAYTON— The Rabun County Board of Commissioners passed a motion to approve the preliminary 2020-2021 budget of $22,893,238 at a meeting Wednesday.
This is about $320,000 less than the previous year, when budget expenditures were $23,212,545.

LAKE BURTON—Lake Burton turns 100 this year, and one way local residents are celebrating is by making a little history of their own.
The first-ever Lake Burton Wooden Boat Parade will take place this Sunday, May 24, said organizer Andrew Harris.

Hospital pays tax lien, remains open

CLAYTON—Mountain Lakes Medical Center is open for business and current on their 2019 taxes, officials said Wednesday morning.
The hospital received notice of seizure for delinquent taxes May 12, promoting concerns about their status after a photo of the posted notice was shared on social media.
