CLAYTON—Laissez les bons temps rouler. Let the good times roll. Mardi Gras comes to Rabun County Saturday just in time for residents, visitors and merchants weary of bleary winter weather to shake off the doldrums and celebrate like it’s New Orleans for a day.

The county’s computer system was recently hit with what was thought to be ransomware, according to Darrin Giles, county administrator, in a phone interview Monday. Ransomware is a type of malicious software, or malware, designed to deny access to a computer system or data until a ransom is paid.

CLAYTON— An accident involving a bicyclist and motor vehicle on Ga. 15 on Monday, Feb. 17 resulted in a fatality. “At approximately 1 p.m. a bicycle, driven by Terry H. Tuck, 71 of Clayton was traveling west on Rickman Airfield Rd.

County: TDA broke the law by paying bonus

CLAYTON—Rabun County officials say the former Tourism Development Authority board of directors broke the law when they voted to disband and pay Executive Director Teka Earnhardt in excess of $20,000 shortly before the TDA was dissolved last September.
