MOUNTAIN CITY— Economic viability and tourism in Mountain City were the major themes of a meeting of the Rabun County Joint Comprehensive Plan at Mountain City’s City Hall following their regular council meeting on Tuesday.

Brenda Hooper appointed to Mountain City council seat

MOUNTAIN CITY— The city of Mountain City council members voted to appoint Brenda Hooper as the fourth city council member to fill the vacant Post 2 at their regular meeting on Tuesday. Council member Eric McCrackin was not present at the meeting.

Forest Service proposed change comes under fire

Local residents are concerned about a proposed change to U.S. Forest Service rules that some say would eliminate public input on decisions about timber and land management. The Forest Service proposed in June to revise its National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations.

Rabun named Mountain Education Charter High School Site of the Year

TIGER— The Rabun County site of Mountain Education Charter High School was recently awarded Site of the Year and had a dinner celebration for faculty and staff at their school in Tiger on Monday.
