Tallulah Falls to hold hearings for proposed tax increase

The Town of Tallulah Falls Council announced its intention to increase the 2025 property taxes it will levy this year by 2.48 percent over the rollback millage rate for Rabun County and 0.70 percent over the rollback millage rate for Habersham County.

Forward Rabun’s Youth Leadership Program is off and running for the 2025-26 school year, as program participants convened last week for a tour of Rabun County’s own Foxfire Village and Museum.

October is “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” During the month, Fight Abuse In The Home (F.A.I.T.H.) is holding events to bring more attention to domestic violence. On Wednesday, Oct. 1, the Fourth Annual Hope Walk was held locally at The Rock House at 39 East Savannah St. in Clayton at noon.

Three perish in plane crash

Three people were killed Thursday afternoon when a single-engine aircraft crashed in the Iotla community. Grammy award-winning songwriter Brett James, 57, was killed in the crash alongside his wife, Melody Wilson, 59, and stepdaughter, Meryl Wilson.
