Another successful year for Easter egg hunt

The annual Rabun County Recreation Department Easter Festival was held on April 17 as fun games were played and then an egg hunt separated into three age brackets was held. The games were run by members of the community and hot dogs and cool drinks were on hand for the hundreds in attendance.

A member of Camp Creek Baptist Church in Habersham, Thomas Black, was seen walking on the sidewalk along Highway 441 in Clayton Friday afternoon with a cross to denote the cross Jesus beared as Easter approached. Black started this walk during Easter 12 years ago.

Qualifying for the June 17 Special Election for Rabun County Probate Judge begins Monday, April 21, at 9 a.m. and goes until Wednesday, April 23 at noon, at the Rabun County Elections Office, 184 S. Main Street, Suite 102, Clayton.

Sky Valley city officials honored the life and memory of former Mayors Steve Brett and Bob MacNair with two separate proclamations celebrating their service. Both recently passed away and officials spoke highly of them during the April 15 Sky Valley council meeting.

A St. Mary’s, Ga., man was cited for too fast for conditions following a Friday, April 11, afternoon crash involving a tractor trailer in Tallulah Falls, causing travel delays for other motorists.

Satolah firefighters move into their new digs

More than 20 years after the Satolah community began looking for a piece of land for a new fire department, Rabun County Fire Services Station 8 recently moved into its new home off Highway 28. The new station is located at 2664 Highway 28, just a quarter mile up the road from the old station.
