Traditions Bank opens new branch in Clarkesville, Ga.

A Stoney’s sign hangs in the new bank’s conference room to commemorate the historic restaurant as a token of history and homage to the family business. The new Traditions Bank branch is built on the property that used to be Stoney’s, a restaurant that served the Clarkesville, Ga.

Local nonprofit Freedom Ministries Lighthouse, Inc. has announced an expansion of services with Women of Worth (WOW) Recovery, Rabun County’s first residential, substance-abuse campus strictly for women. “It’s finally happening,” said Ashley York, director of WOW Recovery.

Tallulah Falls School senior Marina Dumas of Clarkesville won first place in the High School Pottery category in the 2025 Georgia Independent School Association Virtual Art Show. Upper school art teacher Stephanie Stuefer helped Dumas prepare her artwork for entry into the contest.

The Tallulah Falls School Interact Club traveled to Cumming, Ga, for the annual Interact Conference. Each club from the northeast Georgia area shared about their service projects this year and the difference their club has made in their community. Clayton Rotary sponsors the TFS Interact Club.

Forward Rabun Youth Leadership truly ‘empowered’ with local visit

Forward Rabun’s Youth Leadership group concluded its final community visit of the year last week, as the group toured Rabun’s Mathis Dam and the Terrora Power Plant. Georgia Power played host to the group as Local Manager Jeremy Spradlin showered the students with the finest of hospitality.

Crews keep battling Warwoman wildfire

Crews with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service continue battling a wildfire in the Warwoman Wildlife Management Area. The fire is located in the Chattooga River Ranger District and referred to as the “Big Ridge Fire,” according to a press release from the U.S. Forest Service.
