Douglas ‘Bud’ Allen Hopper Sr.
Douglas “Bud” Allen Hopper Sr., 74, of Rabun Gap, passed away at Northeast Georgia Medical Center on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016.
He was born in Rabun County, and was the son of Raleigh D. Hopper and Erie Gladys Love Hopper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jane K. Allen Hopper; five sisters, Ethel Runion, Leah Brewer, Sarah Burnett, Jessie Smith and Betty Thimer; and a grandson, Derrick Mayfield.
Bud is survived by one son, Douglas Allen Hopper Jr. (Dowana) of Rabun Gap; one daughter, Kimberly English (Melvin) of Clayton; three grandchildren, Ashlee Henricks, Rebecka Hopper and Austin Hopper; one great-grandchild, Colton Henricks; one sister, Peggy Benson of Cumming, and one brother, Bob Hopper of Cedartown.
He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of Wolffork Baptist Church. He was a self-employed trucker and hauled produce for Osage Farms for more than 31 years.
The family received friends at Beck Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at Wolffork Baptist Church, with the Revs. Danny Cannon and Jimmy Greer officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with military honors.
The family was at the home of Allen and Dowana at 10 Integrity Lane, Rabun Gap.
