LaVerne Coleman, 75, formerly of Clayton, passed away Dec. 21, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald David Coleman; parents, Hoke Edgar Grist and Montie Warren Grist, and one sister, LaTrelle Grist Rogers.
LaVerne was a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Shopping was a favorite pastime, as well as reading when she was at home. She was an alumni of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, where she was an avid basketball player and formed many lifelong friendships with her classmates.
She is survived by one son, Jamey Coleman (Renee) of Jasper; one daughter, Tracie Dalton, of Alto; one brother, Charles Grist, of Dillard; six grandchildren, Drew Dalton, Cole Dalton, Alexandria Coleman, Stormey Coleman, Christian Coleman and Jeremiah Coleman.
The family received friends at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
A graveside funeral service followed at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in Dillard at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Doug Porter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Head of Tennessee Baptist Church P.O. Box 184 Dillard, Georgia 30537, in memory of LaVerne.
