CLAYTON—Elected officials from Rabun County and its municipalities met for about 17 hours over two days last week to mediate a settlement of a Service Delivery Strategy (SDS) that has been in dispute since 2015.

The negotiations were held at the Rabun County Courthouse and were not open to the public.

Officials who took part in the discussions said the parties may be close to reaching a final agreement on the terms of an SDS.

“Both sides appear to be working in good faith,” Clayton Mayor Jordan Green said Monday. “It looks like we can settle the majority of our dispute. The majority of it is issues that really, there is no dispute, or we just need clarification.”

The main sticking points to reaching an SDS agreement remain the same, according to Green.
