PERSIMMON — For weeks in November, more than 1,000 firefighters visited Rabun County to help fight wildfires.
For two and a half weeks, Rabun County forests burned. For two and a half weeks, residents welcomed hundreds of firefighters from across the nation.
An outbreak of wildfires since Nov. 9 has not only pushed Rabun County’s volunteer firefighters to the front lines, but it has also brought hundreds of others from across the country.
