GenSol Diagnostics, a local animal genetics company, hosted their second annual ShadeOutDM - Race At Your Own Pace event at the Rabun County Bark Park on Saturday, Oct. 8.
The ShadeOutDM Foundation was created to help raise awareness of Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). DM is the canine version of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). ShadeOutDM not only raises awareness of this dreadful disease which affects multiple dog breeds, but they also offer support to the families who have dogs diagnosed with DM by providing a Facebook support group and integral resources to make life easier for both DM sufferers and their human companions. GenSol Diagnostics offers canine testing for DM.
This event was open to the public and everyone was encouraged to bring their dogs.
GenSol Diagnostics sponsored the event by providing refreshments, dog treats, and prizes for best trick and costume.
Everyone attending had a great time but there was no doubt, the dogs had the most fun!
GenSol would like to sincerely thank the Rabun County Recreation Department for allowing the group to host this event at the Bark Park,
The ShadeOutDM Foundation for their wonderful work as stewards for ending Degenerative Myelopathy, as well as everyone who was able to support GenSol Team Lincoln in this effort.
The organizers of the event hope anyone who missed this fun and purposeful event, can attend next year.
