Notice of Meeting

The Rabun County Board of Tax Assessors will meet at 9:00 AM, on Thursday the 11th day of April, 2024 at this office, for the purpose of 2024 spring meeting to Approve 2024 Assessments (See Agenda). 

The Rabun County Board of Tax Assessors is located at 19 Jo Dotson Circle, Suite 121, Clayton.

9:00 AM Call to Order: 

Legal Notice: Notice of Meeting and Proposed Agenda posted on office door and sent to The Clayton Tribune, at least 24 hours in advance 

Guests: Recognize any taxpayers or guests present 

Approve Agenda: Agenda was approved in advance, by board members, by email 

Approve Minutes: Previous Meeting of November 22, 2023, & send copy to Commissioners Budget Report: status of 2024/2025 Proposed Budget Request 

Old Business: Continuing Education requirements for board members in 2024 

New Business: Review In-House Ratio Study and attach copy Approve 2024 Assessment Notices, make back-up copy, attach printable report of actual List from WinGap Approve all new and renewal Homestead Exemptions and Conservation Use Agreements. Approve and adopt Taxable and Exempt Properties. Approve Semi-Annual Board Member Compensation Elect BOA chairperson for 2024 TY. Update on finding more board members Approve 2024 Manufactured Homes Values/2024 boat values Approve continuation of GIS1 mapping service

Approve CUVA tables and 2024 FLPA Index (Rabun County currently has no parcels participating in FLPA)

Continuing Notes:

*The Rabun County Board of Tax Assessors has given the Chief Appraiser and his staff the authority to make changes to any assessment based on facts or conditions that can be verified and confirmed, without additional action by the Board. We normally receive less than 200 of these per year. Other requests will be brought before the full Board for discussion & approval. 

*Notice of Meeting and Proposed Agenda will be posted on the door of the office of the Rabun County Board of Tax Assessors at least 24 hours in advance. Notice will also be sent to The Clayton Tribune at least 24 hours in advance. Notices of Special Called Meeting and Proposed Agenda will be posted on the office door & sent to The Clayton Tribune 24 hours in advance. 

*Property owners who wish to appear before the Board must call the office at 706-782-5068 to be added to the agenda, at least 48 hours in advance. Assessment appeals must be in writing. Any request for a full Board hearing of an assessment appeal must be in writing, and will be scheduled by appointment only.

*As a Board, we do not pay for the services of a secretary, saving our taxpayers' dollars, unless and until it is required by law. 

*As previously adopted by the Board, any two members of the Board who are present, may vote on and approve any motion.
