Carol Kelly Vanderwalker, 68, of Tiger, passed away Sept. 27, 2021 at her home on Spring House Valley Drive.

Born March 27, 1953, in Dade County, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Paul Kelly Sr. and Jeanne (Stewart) Kelly.

During her childhood her parents owned a small plot of land in Rabun County on Lake Rabun and she always loved coming to the mountains with the whole family. She later moved here to Rabun County to take care of Jeanne and Paul Sr. who had retired to Tiger in the mid 1980s. In her professional life she was an accountant for the Miami Museum of Science. She was a member of Clayton United Methodist Church and also the National Geographic Smithsonian.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Vanderwalker of Tiger; a son, Philip Charles Hogan (Erika Johnson) of Boston, Massachusetts: and by two brothers, Paul Kelly Jr. (Robin) of Miami, Florida, and Matthew Kelly of North Florida. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Niamh and Emma Hogan.

The body was at Hunter Funeral Home and was taken to Clayton First United Methodist Church where the family received friends Saturday, Oct. 2, with a funeral service directly following with Pastor Zack Martin officiating. Burial was at Rabun Memory Park.

The family is at the home on Spring House Valley Drive in Tiger.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Flowers were accepted, but memorials may be made in her honor to Clayton First United Methodist Church, 205 Ministry Mountain Dr., Clayton, GA 30525.
