A service for Doris Edmonds Keener, 85, will be held at Beck Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5. Mrs. Keener passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021.

Born June 29, 1936, in Clayton, she was the daughter of the late William and Bell Edmonds. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Keener.

Doris was a lifelong resident of Rabun County who worked hard on the farm and kept kids on occasion at her home. Her life as a Christian was dedicated to raising her family, helping to care for elderly relatives, and enjoying family and friends at her favorite churches. Doris enjoyed her flowers, working in the yard, spending time on the phone or at the Senior Center with her friends, as well as being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her survivors include her children, Aundrea Stevens (Dennis) of Gainesville, Audrey Decker (Steve) of Tiger, Anita Barron (Ernie) of Tiger, and Jack Keener (Caroline) of Gainesville; her grandchildren, Laura Fowler, Samanda Dickerson, Jess Decker, Alex Stevens, Anna Ivester, Sarah Decker and Griffin Keener; great-grandchildren, Barnes Fowler, Eleanor Fowler, Millie Decker, Emma Decker and Haisley and Westin Dickerson. She is also survived by her sister, Lois English; and her brothers, Kenneth Edmonds, Melvin Edmonds and Mike Edmonds.

While the family would love to see her friends at this time, they feel due to the current spike in COVID cases they do not want to put anyone in the community at further risk and ask that you use your best judgment.

They do ask that if you cannot attend and wish to share any condolences or memories of Doris, please send a note or card to Audrey Decker at 547 Bethel Road, Tiger, GA 30576, or share your thoughts as you see them at a later date. The next time you hug a child, help someone in need, enjoy your friends, or work in the yard, take a moment to remember Doris.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to either Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 14, Tiger, GA 30576, or Battle Branch Baptist Church, P.O. Box 483, Clayton, GA 30525.
Beck Funeral Home in Clayton is in charge of the arrangements.
