Hartley Watkins, 79, of Clayton, passed away on Monday, Nov. 1, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Hall County.

Born in Rabun County on Aug. 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Thurmond and Dorothy Dorland Watkins. He lived in Rabun County and worked as a mobile home tech for Mountain City Mobile Homes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurmond and Dorothy Watkins; three brothers, George Watkins, Nyland Watkins and Gerald Watkins; and a sister, Clara (Winkie) Watkins Swaney.

He is survived by his partner of 28 years, Patsy Kelley of Otto, N.C.; four sons, Robby McCutcheon of Franklin, N.C., Joel and Kim Watkins of Clayton, Lenzy and Amber Kelly of Mountain City, and Ray Kelly of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Tonia and Johnathan McRay of Dillard; and a brother, John Watkins of Westminster, S.C. Eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

The body was at Hunter Funeral Home where a visitation was held in the Eastside Chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Chris Taylor officiating. Burial followed at Pickett Cemetery with Rev. Johnny York officiating at the graveside.

The family is at their respective residences.
