Robert “Bob” Paul Costin, 87, of Delray Beach, Fla., and Lake Burton, passed away on June 22, 2022. Bob was survived by his wife Sonya, Smokey III (the dearly loved family cat), and many nieces, nephews and loyal friends.

Bob was born on July 18, 1934, in Cambridge, Mass. He moved to South Florida in 1947 and graduated from Seacrest High School in Delray Beach in 1952.

Bob married his high school sweetheart, Sonya Marcellino, on July 14, 1956. They were married 65 years. Together they established Costin’s Flowers & Gifts, a flourishing business which successfully served Palm Beach County for over 45 years.

Some of his many accomplishments included being elected as National President of FTD (Florists Transworld Delivery), the honor of presenting First Lady Betty Ford with the Golden Rose Award and serving on the Board of Directors of Interflora, an international flower delivery network. In addition, Bob was a City Commissioner for the City of Delray Beach.

Though Bob and Sonya’s primary residence was Delray Beach, their true passion was time spent at Costin’s Chalet on Lake Burton. In addition to “lake time,” they loved to travel the U.S. in their Bluebird Wanderlodge. Whenever you saw RC-2 roll by, you knew Bob and Sonya were on their way!

Bob was a force of nature. His will and optimism were truly boundless. He will be profoundly missed. A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. Please visit www.Lorneandsons.com for more information.
