William Ray McClain “Bill”, 91, of Tiger, passed away Oct. 13, 2021.  He was the son of the late Ray and Rosa Bleckley McClain, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Celia McClain; daughter, Rebecca McClain; and one son, Steve McClain.

He is survived by two sons, Stanley McClain, and Jeff McClain and wife Rhonda McClain; three daughters, Sylvia Lord husband Gary Roach, Cindy Huff, Sonya McClain husband Scott Newton; one brother, Zane McClain, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Bill raised a family of seven children and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was from a family of eight children and was one of six boys. He grew up in Tiger. Bill enjoyed watching his children play sports and was involved with any activity they were involved in. He was a graduate of Rabun County High School and attended Truett McConnell College. He served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean war.

Bill enjoyed tinkering on cars and trucks, and enjoyed bluegrass music. Bill had a long career working for General Motors. For 40 years he worked at the Lakewood and Doraville plants.

The family received friends at Beck Funeral Home Sunday, Oct. 17, with funeral services following in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with Clayton McClain officiating. Interment was held at Fairview Memorial Garden Cemetery in Stockbridge Monday Oct. 18.
