Linda Pauline Calloway James, age 81, of Scaly Mountain, N.C., passed away on Nov. 14, 2022. She was born the daughter of the late Paul Leon Calloway and the late Agnes Lenora Raby Calloway on Dec. 13, 1940. She was the widow of the late Robert Bob Willis James.

Linda was a hard worker, who always enjoyed working on the farm with her family, or tending to her flowers and garden. She was a loving wife and mother, who loved the Lord, her family and her church, Flats of Middle Creek Baptist Church, where she was Sunday School Secretary and Treasurer of the church. She always strived to be a good neighbor to all and to help if she was ever able to. She always reminded others to Love God and keep Him in your life.

In addition to her parents and her husband, one brother, Jimmy Calloway, preceded her in death.

She leaves behind her two sons, Dale (Debbie) and Neal James, both of Scaly, N.C.; two daughters, Lynn McCall (Yogi), of Highlands, N.C., and Sandra Brown, of Salem, S.C.; one brother, Doyle Calloway (Margaret), of Highlands, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Ann Cresswell, of Highlands, N.C., and Gail Cheaney (Phil), of Hilton Head, S.C.; and grandchildren, Justin Brown, Dillon Brown, Kayla Bryson (Ryan), Craig McCall (Hannah), Amy James, Sam James, Kelsey James, Lauren Messer (Matt); great-grandchildren, Cole Brown, Noah Johnson, Rylee Bryson, Laney Bryson, Kinsley Bryson, Gloria McCall, Lyla Messer, Gentry Messer, and Riley Messer. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

The family received friends on Thursday Nov, 17, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, Ga.

A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday Nov. 18, 2022, at the Flats of Middle Creek Baptist Church in Scaly Mountain, North Carolina.

Interment will follow in the Scaly Methodist Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Flats of Middle Creek Baptist Church at P.O. Box 220 Scaly Mountain, NC 28775.
