Mrs. Lou Ann Mullinkis Duncan, 83, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2021, at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden.

Lou Ann was a beloved wife of over 50 years, mother, and grandmother. She was a native of Orlando, Fla., but grew up in Nashville, Tenn. in the 1950's.

She was an elementary school teacher for more than 28 years and was awarded the "Teacher of the Year" several times. Once, while she was at East Valley Elementary School in Cobb County, Marietta, Ga. She was active in her church, teaching Sunday School and many Vacation Bible Schools.

Clayton First United Methodist Church was her church for many years. Church was very important to Lou Ann and she passed this along to her family, even making sure a prayer was given before each meal. Her favorite scriptures were: Philippians 4:4, John 14: 1-4, and Psalm 23.

She graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in education and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Lou Ann had many friends and loved spending time with them. She always loved people and especially enjoyed her grandchildren, Josh, Ami, Sarah, and Grace.

Lou Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ray Duncan.

She is survived by her children, Kay Duncan Christensen and her husband, Richard, of Marietta, Ga. and Pastor John Ewell Duncan and his wife, Ellen, of Jacksonville, Ala. ; and grandchildren, Joshua Christensen, Ami Christensen, Sarah Christensen, and Grace Christensen, all of Marietta.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Building Fund of Clayton First United Methodist Church, 205 Ministry Mountain Drive, Clayton, Ga. 30525.
