The Clayton Tribune hosted the top readers’ choice vote-getters in the annual Best of Rabun County contest as the community newspaper had hundreds of ballots cast in its 94 categories this year.

The Feb. 23 drop-in event at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia gave the winners the opportunity to receive their awards, listen to some jazz music, talk with fellow winners and enjoy food items and beverages provided by some of the winners.

Those providing tasty eats were Experts Unlimited LLC at Circle S Gas Station, winner of “Best Biscuits;” Ishy’s Grill, winner of “Best Lunch” and “Best Sandwich;” Henry’s Restaurant, winner of “Best Fried Chicken” and “Best Home-cooking Restaurant;” The Rusty Bike Café, winner of “Best Breakfast;” and White Birch Provisions, winner of “Best Charcuterie/Gourmet Food,” “Best Coffee” and “Best Dessert/Pastry.”

Charlie Million of White Birch Provisions’ also won “Best Chef.”

The beverages at the event were provided by Moonrise Distillery, winner of “Best Distillery;” Smitty’s Spirits, winner of “Best Liquor Store;” Tiger Mountain Vineyards, winner of “Best Winery;” and Chick-fil-A, winner of “Best Sweet Tea” and “Best Fast Food/Restaurant.”

The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia also provided bottled waters.

Representing The Clayton Tribune was Megan Broome, news editor; Luke Morey, sports editor; Brooklyn Allgary, administrative assistant; Enoch Autry, publisher; and senior sales associates Debbie Martin and Tony Penrose.

“Our newspaper staff is extremely grateful to work in the phenomenal community of Rabun County,” Autry said. “Rabun is filled with greatness – from its scenery, businesses and, of course, its people.”
