Edith Jiles Webb Gipson, 81, of Lakemont, took her Heavenly flight home on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at her residence.

Born in Clayton, on Aug. 26, 1940, she was the daughter of Hiram Willie & Lola Emory Jiles. Edith was of the Baptist faith and attended Joy Baptist Church, Lakemont. Edith lived her life in Rabun County, working at Burlington Industries and the Rabun County Senior Center. In later years, she was a homemaker & caretaker to her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Stuart Gipson & her first husband, Joe Webb. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Lola Sue Jiles, Evelyn Jiles Bowen, Jean Jiles Harrison & Clarice Jiles Owens; and two brothers, Edward Jiles & Almon Jiles.

Edith is survived by one sister, Lois Jiles Clark of Lakemont; three daughters, Betty Jo Webb Gipson (Bruce) of Lakemont, Judy Gipson Turpin of Lakemont & Gayla Gipson of Douglasville; three sons, Bruce Gipson (Betty Jo) of Lakemont, Doug Gipson (Rita) of Lakemont & Wayne Gipson (Rita) of Lakemont; eight grandsons, Bronn Gipson, Brent Gipson, Jeb Gipson, Eli Gipson, Brad Turpin, John Turpin, Cole Turpin, Bo Thomas; two granddaughters, Bristol Lola Gipson Batho & Mariah Redelk Mandujano; several great grandchildren, nieces and  nephews.

Funeral Services were at the Hunter Funeral Home Eastside Chapel Wednesday Nov. 24, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Tony Goss Officiating. The burial followed at the Camp Creek Cemetery in Lakemont. The family received friends for visitation at the Eastside Chapel Wednesday Nov. 24, 2021, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.

The family is at their respective residences and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
