Beginning Oct. 18, Georgia Power Forestry and Right of Way contractors will be conducting vegetation maintenance along the rights of way in the Lakemont and Lake Rabun area.
In an effort to improve reliability, GPC will employ a helicopter to prune certain portions of the rights of way in this area.
Consequently, residents may be notified of required scheduled outages and/or may experience daily outages of up to four hours as the helicopter and the crews work to safely prune limbs and overhanging branches from the overhead distribution lines.
Please stay tuned for any additional communications and updates on possible outages for the area.
In addition, cleanup ground support crews will be following the helicopter, removing the debris as quickly as possible. Please keep in mind cleanup efforts could take 5-10 days after pruning has taken place.
For questions or concerns, please reach out to the Ground Support Coordinator at (256) 701-1348.
