A Hiawassee man died in a one-vehicle crash on Highway 76 West between Highway 197 and Turkey Gap Rd. Monday.
Randolph Lee Franklin, 54, died Feb. 14 after his white 2000 Nissan Frontier truck ran off the roadway's north shoulder and over-turned down an embankment, according to a statement from Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
"The driver wasn't seat belted during the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. The truck driver was pronounced deceased on scene by the Rabun County deputy coroner," according to GSP.
GSP Post 7-Toccoa was requested to the crash at approximately 11 a.m.
"It was also discovered that Mr. Franklin had a large amount of what appeared to be methamphetamine and scales in his front pocket, along with pipes," GSP reported.
At this time, no charges are pending or expected, according to GSP.
