Celebration of our nation’s freedom definitely will be evident during the Independence Day weekend in Rabun County as lots of food, plenty of music and extraordinary firework displays will grace the skies.
You also can catch a drive-in movie, watch rubber ducks “race” in the water and even participate in a footrace yourself.
The following are many of the scheduled events from Friday, July 1, to Monday, July 4, that are open to the public:
Clayton
Friday, July 1:
-The Clayton Merchants and Business Association will present its latest First Friday Fest event on Main Street at The Rock House stage in Clayton with Krystal Halvorson. The free concert will be from 6-8 p.m.
Rabun Arena
Thursday, June 30 & Friday, July 1:
-The Bar W Rodeo will be at the 100 East Boggs Mountain Rd. arena at 8 p.m. each night. Tickets can be bought in advance online or at the gate for adults at $15; children ages 5-10 $10; and free for children under the age of 4. Only cash will be accepted at the gate.
Stonewall Creek Vineyards
Saturday, July 2, Sunday, July 3 & Monday, July 4:
-Live music during Fouth of July weekend and the annual parade through the vineyard in Tiger will be Monday afternoon.
Tallulah Falls
Saturday, July 2:
-The Saturday Night Bluegrass will be from 6:30-9 p.m. Bring a dish to pass, potluck, or if you would like to make a donation. The music starts at 7 p.m. for the free event. The nights of bluegrass are held throughout the summer on Saturday evenings.
The Dillard House
Sunday, July 3:
-Cookout and live entertainment on the Rock House lawn from 5:30-8 p.m. Beer, wine and specialty drinks available for purchase. Elberton resident Clay Page will perform live entertainment. Page was a Season 17 contestant on American Idol. The cookout is $30.95 for adults, $20.95 for young adults (12-16), $16.95 for children (4-11), and free for children 3 and under. Monday, July 4:
-Live entertainment by Hunter Grayson and the Country River Band for your listening and dancing pleasure. BBQ cookout with chicken, ribs and pork plus sides and desserts. The cookout is $39.95 for adults, $28.95 young adults (12-16), $24.95 for children (4-11), and free for children under 3. Fireworks will be on the Rock House Lawn beginning at dusk. City of Sky Valley
Saturday, July 2:
-8-10 a.m. Sky Valley Property Owners Pancake Breakfast at the Sky Valley Country Club Pavilion.
-9:30-10:45 a.m. Sky Valley Rubber Duck Race. The race will begin after registration when all 500 ducks for the children are in the water. The fastest swimming ducks receive prizes.
-11:15 a.m. Sky Valley Grand Parade. Parade starts at Tahoe Lane and ends at the Sky Valley Park. There are prizes for parade entries and the Grandstand Master of Ceremony will announce the parade entries. All entries should e at Tahoe Lane by 10:45 a.m.
-11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sky Valley/Scaly Mountain Fire Department hot dog cafe at the Sky Valley City Pavilion.
-5:30-8 p.m. Sid Weber Cancer Fund BBQ. Pick up BBQ dinners at the Sky Valley Country Club pavilion before 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the Sky Valley Pro Shop, Sky Valley Timeshares office, Poss Realty Sky Valley, Reeves location in Dillard, and the Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund website sudwevercancerfund.org. Bring your own lawn chairs.
-9:30 p.m. Fireworks over the lake by the golf course.
Lake Burton
Saturday, July 2:
-The 36th annual Lake Burton Fun Run. Online registration is now closed, but limited late registration is available today and tomorrow at LaPrade’s Marina from 1-6 p.m. for $40. The race begins at 9 a.m. and hay rides/shuttles start around 7:45 a.m. from LaPrade’s up to the starting line. Email lakeburtonfunrun@gmail.com for more information.
-Fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m. The rain date is July 4.
Sunday, July 3:
-The Lake Burton Ski Patrol Salute to America will start at noon as eight skiers at a time, starting at Magness Cove, moving south then to the perimeter of the lake except Wildcat. Live updates on the skiers’ locations will be posted on the Lake Burton Homeowners Facebook page.
Lake Rabun
Saturday, July 2:
-The Rabun Ramble Road Race starts at 7:30 a.m. The race starts and ends at the Lake Rabun Pavilion. For more information, go to the Rabun Ramble website or Facebook page.
-The BBQ and Bluegrass festival will be held from 6-10 p.m. Dinner provided by The Shred 6-7:30 p.m. with music by Nitrograss starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are required for dinner and the dance is open to all Lake Rabun Association members and guests.
Sunday, July 3:
-The Wood Boat Regatta starts at 10:30 a.m. at Mathis Dam.
-Fireworks at the dam at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Monday, July 4:
-Lake Rabun Association Golf Tournament will be at Orchard Golf and Country Club in Clarkesville.
Tiger Drive-in
Saturday, July 2:-
-Fourth of July Weekend Movie and Fireworks. 6-11 p.m. The fireworks will be at approximately 9:15 p.m. before the movie “Elvis 2022” starts at 9:30 p.m. The gates to the drive-in open at 6 p.m. The drive-in will show “Thor ‘Love & Thunder’” the next two weekends.
Lakemont
Saturday, July 2:
-Musical act Rick Stone & his Band of Brothers will be at the River Campground. The concert will be from 7-11 p.m. The fee is $5 per person and those attending should bring their own lawn chairs and beverages.
