CLAYTON-- The Rabun County Board of Elections Office will not hold early voting Monday, Oct. 11. Early voting will begin Tuesday, Oct. 12, according to Sandra Wood, elections and registrations clerk.
Early voting was scheduled to begin Oct. 11, but due to new election laws, voting is not allowed to be held on state or federal holidays, Wood said.
The elections office "can't be open for voting on a holiday," she said. "It's the new Senate Bill 202 law that passed."
Monday, Oct. 11 is recognized as a federal holiday, Columbus Day.
Wood added that elections cannot be held even if Rabun County government buildings are open for business.
The Rabun County Board of Elections Office is located at 184 South Main St., Suite 102 Clayton. Contact the office at 706-782-1878.
