Rabun County Fire Services responded to a report of a structure fire at 736 Western Way in the Sylvan Lake Falls Subdivision in Rabun Gap at 7:24 a.m., according to a statement from Justin Upchurch, assistant chief of Rabun County Fire Services.

Prior to the fire department's arrival, three people had gotten out safely.
"The fire was brought under control in approximately 40 minutes and personnel began overhaul and searching for the two missing occupants. The occupants were located deceased and the Coroner and State Fire Marshal's Office were notified," according to the statement.
According to the statement, the water source used was the lake at the bottom of the subdivision. Approximately 26,000 gallons of water was used during the operation.
Tanker 6 and Otto, N.C. Fire Department were also requested for manpower and apparatus. Fire units remained on scene until 1:10 p.m.
