Burglary suspects sought

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) is investigating multiple late night burglaries involving convenience stores, the office posted on its Facebook page Tuesday.

“If anyone has information on the identity of the persons in the photographs, please private message the RCSO Facebook page or contact Investigator Justin Buchanan directly at 706-960-9745. Thank you for your assistance,” the post noted.

RCSO Chief Investigator Marty Talley said Tuesday that the burglaries have taken place over a period of several months with three occurring on the north end of Rabun County, one in Mountain City, one in Clayton and one in Highlands, N.C.

Talley said that the burglaries are believed to be caused by two different sets of people.

He said that the suspects bust out the windows of the convenience stores and steal merchandise such as tobacco, lottery tickets, money and alcohol.

Talley said that the burglaries occur when the stores are closed late night or early in the morning. He said that the surveillance footage shows the suspects always wearing a hood and mask.

“One individual is wearing a scuffed worldwide hoodie,” the Facebook post described.

As of press time, no arrests had been made in connection with the incidents, according to Talley.
