Rabun County Fire Services recently announced that Dalton Freeman (Center) has graduated from the Basic Firefighter program at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Ga. The class is an 8-week, 345 hour program that teaches the basics of firefighting and hazardous materials and is taught by the Georgia Fire Academy. When complete, the recruits graduate as National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications (NPQ) Firefighter 1, Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Operations Level. The 8 weeks are mentally as well as physically challenging with continuous testing and hands-on evaluations throughout. Dalton was hired in August of 2019.
