Old Clayton Elementary remembered fondly as portion falls to demolition
Megan Broome/The Clayton Tribune. Memories came pouring in as a portion of the old Clayton Elementary School was demolished over the past week. In May 1976, the entire Clayton Elementary School building flooded up to the waist of an adult. In the Spring of 1982, a tornado took the roof off of the library (where the Clayton court room is currently located).
CLAYTON-- Demolition of part of the old Clayton Elementary School on Highway 441 is underway. Clayton City Hall and the police department are currently located there.
