MOUNTAIN CITY– Georgia Power will temporarily close a portion of Black Rock Parkway Wednesday, Aug. 24, and Thursday, Aug. 25, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for work, according to Brent Edwards, Georgia Power area manager.

Edwards said that Hall Lane to the intersection of Taylors Chapel, Cross Street and North Germany Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in order for Georgia Power to relocate a distribution line. Georgia Power will cut down trees in the area in order to relocate the distribution line and will have the road blocked.

A distribution line is a line or system for distributing power from a transmission system to a consumer.

This portion will also be closed Tuesday, Aug. 30, and Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Edwards said the distribution line is being moved to make it more accessible for workers during events of severe weather and to increase the reliability of the circuit.

Edwards said customers in the area should not lose power.

There will be a path for residents who live in the area to access their homes, but no thru-traffic will be permitted.
