Rabun County Schools Pre-K students were back in the classroom for the first day of the 2026-2027 school year on Thursday, Aug. 6.
“The first day of Pre-K was filled with excitement as we welcomed our youngest learners in a new school year filled with discovery and growth,” Rabun County Primary School (RCPS) Principal Carla Truelove told The Clayton Tribune. “It was so rewarding to see the joyful energy of our students, the dedication of our amazing teachers and the support of our families come together to create a warm and welcoming start.”
Superintendent Steven Cole said the first day of Pre-K is one of the favorite days of the school year.
“Seeing our youngest learners step into the classrooms for the first time with bright eyes and curious minds reminds of all us of why we do this work,” Cole said. “Mrs. Truelove and her Pre-K staff do a wonderful job welcoming the parents and the students to the Wildcat school community and I am very excited to see what the future holds for these outstanding young students.”
Students in grades K-12 at Rabun County Schools had their first day back on Monday, Aug. 3. School officials announced that all students in Rabun County Schools will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2026-2027 school year. A la carte items and extras (like snacks, second helpings, or bottled water) are not free and must be purchased separately.
