Charles Horace Hudson, Sr., age 83, of Marianna, Fla., died on Feb. 17, 2022, at his home, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Jackson County, Fla., on Aug. 8, l938. 

Charles served in the U.S. Air Force and the US Naval Reserve.  He was employed with Gulf Power in Sneads, Fla., and Panama City, Fla., for 31 years, retiring in l996. Charles was a faithful member of Lovedale Baptist Church in Bascom Fla., where he served in many capacities until his illness.

During his working years, he built a cabin in Rabun County on Black Rock Mountain, where he enjoyed many vacations and summers with family and friends. While vacationing in Rabun County, he attended Clayton Baptist Church and belonged to the Agape Sunday School class.  He participated in class cookouts, class projects, and played golf with the men. He was also a member of the NE Georgia Ambassadors, a Southern Company Retiree Organization.  He enjoyed being a commercial pilot and traveling to different places.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Maci and Tripp, especially in the mountains where they roamed the woods, played in the snow, picked blackberries to make jelly or just building a fire in the chimenea to roast marshmallows.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Luree Pittman Hudson; son Chuck (Tamara) Hudson; daughter, Anna Hudson; and grandchildren Maci Varnadore and Tripp Hudson. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Alice Pendergrass (late Dwain Pendergrass), of Marianna, Fla.; and brother William Roy Hudson, of Panama City, Fla.

Flowers or memorial donations may be made in memory of Charles to any charity of your choice or Lovedale Baptist Church, General Fund, 6595 Lovedale Road, Bascom, Florida 32423, or Covenant Hospice of Marianna, 4540 Lafayette St, Suite G, Marianna, Florida 32446.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 20, 2022, at Lovedale Baptist Church. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
